Time Management for High School Students
High school is a time where you might be trying to fit a lot into your schedule. From academics and sports, to college applications and extracurriculars, it can feel like there’s not enough time in the day.
Time management allows you to complete everything that you need to get done within a certain period. It will help you organize your life, which can be quite difficult during school. Here are a few time management tips for high school students.
Have a schedule
If your school day is already decided for you, consider having a schedule for after school hours. This could include things like study time, sports practice, and even purposeful relaxation to recharge.
Use your planner
You can use your planner not only to keep track of important due dates, but also to organize daily to-do lists. This can help to minimize stress and last-minute cram sessions over a forgotten test or task.
Don’t get sidetracked
Whether we realize it or not, humans are not great multitaskers. Science has shown that multitasking is really just “task switching” and that we’re giving less attention to each task while trying to manage others running in the background. To most effectively use your time, focus on one project at a time before moving on to the next.
